Beaminster 3 - 1 Pymore FC

Any hopes of silverware for Pymore are over for another season as they were knocked out of the Arthur Gage Cup at the quarter final stage in a hard fought match on the sticky pitch at the playing fields in Beaminster. Beaminster were out for revenge following Pymore`s recent 3-2 league win when the two sides met earlier in the season.

Missing from last weeks cup victory against Charmouth were Fred Etherington, Gavin Rayner and Christian Langton but back in the side were player manager Matt Tither, Timmy Hussey, Paul Watkins, Elliot Beazer and Leigh Dowle. Beaminster started the better of the two sides as Pymore had a very very sloppy first period and found themselves two goals down at the break following a stunning effort from the edge of the box and a further effort when keeper Youngs saved a drive but the ball fell to an unmarked striker who had all the time in the world to put the ball into the back of the net.

The second period was a completely different Pymore side and they started to cause Beaminster some problems but wasteful finishing from the normally spot on Timmy Hussey meant that Pymore couldn`t get a way back into the match. Some bad refereeing decisions upset the Pymore team when they thought that they should of had a clear cut penalty when Beaminster defender Pete Stone tangled with Timmy inside the box and dragged him downk but the referee just waved it away.

Pymore did make the final 15minutes interesting when striker Alex Goodrick nipped in to slot the ball home. Pymore were further fustrated when Goodrick raced cleared and was chopped down by the last Beaminster defender but all the referee did was award a free kick and nothing more; not even a yellow, or better still a red card! As Pymore pushed forward in search of the second goal to take the match into extra time they allowed Beaminster to push forward and get a third to book them a place in the last four.

A shocking first half performance from Pymore was were the match was lost but all we can do now is push for promotion. Discuss this match via our message boards here.
