Beaminster 2 - 3 Pymore FC
Pymore sent shock waves around the Perry Street League with this victory over league leaders and local neighbours Beaminster. This stunning results takes Matt Tither`s men onto a 3 match unbeaten run.
Pymore were still missing the services of Mickey Gilmore, who has chosen not to play again until his poorly toe has recovered, Elliot Beazer was working and Julian Davies was making an appearance on stage at the Birmingham NEC at the lastest Take That tour. Leigh Dowle was drafted into right back with Gavin Rayner coming in on the right wing in place of Will Stork who was dropped down to the bench.
Pymore, playing down the slight Beaminster slope, started well and edged ahead in about the 10th minute when the Beaminster keeper clearled the ball directly to Robbie Walter`s who struck the ball from all of 45 yards and managed to find the net (see he can score when he doesn`t eat too many love hearts before a match). Beaminster came back into the match but they tended to play too much fancy football which never really caused the Pymore back line too much trouble. A big talking point occured midway through the 1st period when Timmy Hussey broke clear and was bundled over, a clear red card professional foul but the referee opted for a yellow instead. From the resulting free kick Hussey saw his goal bound effort saved well by the Beaminster keeper.
Beaminster were given a bollocking at half time and came out for the second period looking to get back into the match but it was Pymore who increased there lead with a smart bit of flowing passing football. Keeper Charlie Youngs rolled the ball out to Leigh Hansford who then floated a lovely ball over the top for Christian who in turn released Timmy who then played it back to Alex who played it to Christian who then laid it off to man of the match Alex who worked himself an opening before firing into the back of the net. Beaminster clawed their way back into the match with a scrambled effort which saw Pymore`s keeper Youngs booked for moaning about the ref`s decision not to award a foul in the build up due to a push.
Beaminster drew level with about 12 minutes remianing when some sloppy Pymore defending from a free kick allowed a Beaminster player a free header at the back post. Beaminster then thought they had the edge but Pymore`s never say die attitude of late was rewarded when a cross from the left was met by the unmarked Gavin Rayner six yards out, his poor header was somehow dropped by the Beaminster keeper and ran over the line giving Pymore a well deserved three points. Pymore`s man of the match was the young wipper snapper striker Alexander 'the great' Goodrick who worked his socks off and caused the Beaminster defence all sorts of problems with his clever feet and he also covered every blade of grass of the Beaminster pitch.
