Crewkerne Reserves 1 - 6 Pymore FC
A comfortable victory in front of a large crowd on a hot late summers evening at Henhays, Crewkerne.
Pymore cruised into the 2nd Round of The Daisy Hutchings Cup after thrashing a very young crewkerne team.
Having scrapped around at the 11th hour to get a starting team Pymore totally dominated the game from the first to the last
minute. Mick Gilmore failed a late fitnes test so Ryan Gay was drafted in to make his first appearance of the season in the
Red and Black shirt of Pymore. Ryan, who partened Rob Walters in midfield, worked hard and didn't let Crewkerne settle in the
middle of the park.
Pete Watts was also drafted in to make his Pymore debut and he contributed to the first goal of the game when he
chipped the ball over the Crewkerne left back to the ever alert Goodrick who drove a low shot into the corner of the
Crewkerne net. Within five minutes of Goodrick's goal Crewkerne drew level with a low shot that squirmed past the on-rushing
Bodger. A bullet header from a Crewkerne corner nearly put the home side ahead but Bodger dived full length and tipped the
ball away with great reflexes, that was more or less Crewkernes second and only chance. Within minutes a rebounded shot
from Alex Goodrick fell Timy Hussey who finished with his head.
Just before the interval Goodrick slotted home another great shot to maket the half time score 3-1 to Pymore. Pymore
replaced Pete at half time with another Pymore player making his debut, Jody Goodrick. Jody impressed throughout the second
half getting stuck in and sniffing out any raids down the pymore right side. Early into the second half, an 18 yard
thunderbolt from super quick Stork fired Pymore into a 4-1 lead. Pymore then slipped into cruise control and passed the ball
round superbly. Tim Hussy fired in two trade mark 25 yarders to grab his first hat-rick of the season and that finished the
scoring at 6-1. Man of the Match goes to Paul Smith 6 months after breaking his leg in a horrific tackle against Merriot.
Paul produced a solid display at left back getting first to every ball and passing well through out the game.
Next match for Pymore sees South Petherton Resveres come to St Marys field on Saturday the 8th. Missing for this game will be
5 goal heros from tonights game Alex Goodrick and Timmy Hussy. Although we welcome back Julian Davies,Gav Raynor and Chrsitian
for the match.
