Merriot Reserves 4 - 1 Pymore FC

Merriott Rovers Reserves 4 Pymore 1 Having failed to play for the previous 4 weeks Pymore travelled across the boarder to Somerset to face a Merriott side who know how to play home matches on the horrible sloping pitch at Seavington. Pymore, playing dowm the slope in the first period, fell a goal behind in the opening minutes when Charlie failed to hold a cross and the ball fell to the striker who had the simple task of knocking the ball into an empty net. This was a wake up call for Pymore and they created several chances with striker Timmy Hussey failing to put away at least four clear one-on-one chances firing them all into row z. Pymore did pull level mid way through when Matt Tither broke up an attack, played a neat one two with Robbie Hedditch and then found wipper snapper Goorick in space and his beautiful shot curled delightfully into the top corner giving the Merriott keeper no chance. Again Pymore pressed forward down the slope hoping to put there noses in front but poor finishing in front of goal meant the teams went in level at the break.

Pymore, playing up the massive slope in the second period, found themselfs behind when a cross from the right was completely missed by Dowle (donkey) and the Merriott striker jsut placed his shot past keeper Youngs. Dispite Youngs getting a hand to the shot the ball still found its way across the line. Hussey and the hungover Robbie Walter`s both had chances to draw the game level but Merriott got a 3rd with a breakaway goal. The winger broke down our right side and with the ball at least 10foot out of play both the ref and merriott linesman failed to spot this and the ball then found its way into the striker who knocked the ball into an empty net. Merriott then completed the rout with a 4th towards the end. Discuss this match via our message boards here.
