Misterton 2 - 1 Pymore FC
Pymore were dumped out of the Division 1 cup on a hot September`s afternoon at the recreation field by a 20 yard thunderbolt
midway through the 1st period. Pymore reshuffled their starting line up with the returning Charles Youngs back in goal after
recovering from injury. Defenders Simon Forsey and Matt Tither were returning from international duty. Simon Bush was
moved out onto the right wing in order to hopefully give his side some width and Ryan Gay was installed on the left flank
replacing the poorly Will Stork.
It was Misterton who opened the scoring early on when one of there bald headed strikers outpaced Leigh Hansford and
sent a low shoot across Charlie into the bottom corner. Pymore who had a few bright spells drew level when Mickey Gilmore set
off an other of his teasing runs but when the ball bobbled around in the box between him and some of the Misterton defenders but
it was Mikcy who got his foot to the ball to poke it over the line. Later evidence shown on Match Of The Day suggested that it could have been an own goal.
Ten minutes before the interval in was Misterton who got what turned out to be the all important winning
goal. A break down the Pymore right when a Misterton player turned Simon Forsey inside out resulted in a cross which was
headed clear by Tither only to fall to the feet of Jerry Hill who smashed a first time 20 yard volley which flew into the
pymore net pass the diving Youngs.
Pymore introduced Gavin Raynor and Christian Langton at the start of the second period
for the two Gay boys and this seemed to raise Pymore`s game with Timmy having too chances during the opening
10minutes and Gav caused some problems running at the Misterton defence. As ever the final ball still wasn`t there.
Pymore were unhappy with the long grass which was only rolled minutes before kick off and also by several decisions by the
female ref. The major one being in the final seconds when Robbie Walters was hacked down in the box, the
offical put the whistle in her month only to award a corner instead. Man of the match was given to Robbie for his hard
work in the centre of the park and the returning Youngs was not far behind.
Pymore: Youngs, J.Gay (Rayner 45mins), Forsey, Gilmore, Walters, Hansford, Tither, Bush, Goodrick, Hussey (Dowle 70mins), R.Gay (Langton 45mins)
Next up is a trip to Chard Rangers on Saturday. Pymore should have back Will Stork, Paul Smith and Elliot Beaver but missing is Gav Rayner who is away on holiday and also doubts over the ankle injury to Timmy.
