Pymore FC 3 - 5 Lyme Regis Reserves (AET)
Pymore player boss Matt Tither blamed his side`s lack of confidence in front of goal as they missed several chances before
losing this hard fought Dorset Junior Cup local derby. Playing on a lush St Mary`s Pitch Pymore reshuffled their starting
11 with Leigh Hansford & Mick Gilmore returning, there was also first appearence of the season for Robbie Hedditch who replaced
the missing Robbie Walter`s (who was boarding a play to Spain). Jamie Gay (who texted to say he couldn`t play), Paul Watkins (was
watching Saints) and Leigh Dowle were dropped to the bench.
Pymore started the stronger of the two teams with Rob Hedditch putting himself about in the centre of the park and we opened
the scoring when a Timmy Hussey shot was saved by the keeper and Christain Langton reacted quickest to scramble the ball
over the line. Pymore then had to replace Gav Rayner who had pulled his hamstring and 6ft
6 17 year old Eliott Beazer was brought on. Pymore went into the break one up and at the start of the second period we
created several chances but just couldn`t hit the back of the net before Lyme levelled. Pymore then gain the advantage when
Timmy Hussey cleverly beat the off side trap to put Pymore back in front. Pymore, a goal up, then created several more
opportunities which but again they failed to put any of these
chances away.
Lyme, who earlier hammered the Pymore cross bar, were level then increased their lead when Pymore keeper Charlie
Youngs was sandwiched between two Lyme Players, the foreign referee failed to awarded the free kick and the ball fell nicely
at the feet of Leigh Dowle who cooly slotted home (only problem was it was the wrong end and Lyme were in front). Lyme
attempted to keep ball and keep Pymore at bay and play ot the remaining minutes but Alex Goodrick played Timmy Hussey through
and we he broke clear was brought down in the box by a horrible tackle which resuled in a Pymore penalty. Matt Tither stepped up to take the penalty and
slotted a cool penalty past the keeper, despite a bowl of a penalty spot, to send the capacity home crowd wild and the match
into extra time.
The foreign ref was unsure if extra time was required so he quickly popped back to his car to check the handbook before
returning to play the extra half an hour. Neither side created alot during the frist period but Lyme broke the heart of a
battling Pymore display with two goals in the last 10 minutes of the second period.
Pymore player manager said "I can`t fault the lads for the performance today, they battled hard and to be honest a draw and a
replay would of been a fair result. Our finishing again is letting us down but we had lots of positive performances today,
it was nice to see Rob Hedditch play his first game since pre season and was good also to have Mickey Mouse..sorrey Mickey Gilmore back also"
Pymore: Youngs, Bush, Hansford, Hedditch, Langton (Dowle 70mins), Ranyer (Beazer 14mins), Tither, Gilmore (Smith 80mins), Goodrick, Hussey, Davies
